Beat Licenses

A plain-language guide for artists choosing the right beat license before buying. A beat purchase is a license to use a ReidMD Beat, not an ownership transfer.

License terms summary

Ownership stays clear.

ReidMD Beat means the instrumental, beat, composition or arrangement, sound recording/master, stems, loops, previews, and related audio supplied by ReidMD.

Customer Recording means the buyer's new song or recording made using the licensed beat, including their vocals, lyrics, and original contributions.

  • Buying a beat does not transfer ownership of the ReidMD Beat.
  • ReidMD retains ownership of his beat/instrumental, sound recording/master, stems, production, producer rights, and underlying creative contributions.
  • No work-for-hire, copyright assignment, publishing transfer, or master buyout is included unless a separate written agreement signed or approved by ReidMD says so.
  • The buyer may own or control their original vocals, lyrics, and new contributions, subject to the license.

Credit and restricted uses

Credit the producer.

  • Required credit: Produced by ReidMD.
  • Use the credit in DSP credits, YouTube descriptions, social captions, metadata, or any place producer credits are normally shown.
  • Do not falsely claim ReidMD as a featured artist, collaborator, remixer, or endorser unless separately agreed.
  • No resale, relicensing, redistribution, extraction, repackaging, uploading stems as a kit, or selling the beat/instrumental by itself.
  • No Content ID or copyright claim over the standalone beat/instrumental.
  • No hateful, illegal, defamatory, or misleading use.
  • No sync, ad campaign, TV/film/game placement, major label release, or exclusive/custom use without written confirmation before release.

Exclusive Inquiry

Best for

Commercial releases, high-reach campaigns, label conversations, or moments where you need the beat taken off the market.

Usually includes

An inquiry only, not an automatic checkout transfer. Exclusive means negotiated exclusive license/use rights, not an automatic sale of ReidMD copyright, master, or publishing.

Write it first

Prior valid licenses remain valid unless separately handled. Producer credit, points/backend participation, splits, and delivery terms must be written before release.
